Kenneth 'Kenny' Earl Menzie Sr.

ARGOS – Kenneth “Kenny” Earl Menzie Sr., 90, of 805 Baker St., Lot 126, Plymouth, died at 1:37 p.m. July 30, 2012, in his residence, following a sudden illness.

He was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Warsaw, to Elmer A. and Goldie Mason Menzie. On Feb. 12, 1954, in Mentone, he married Leatha Barkman, who died in August 1996.

He lived in Plymouth since November 1996, coming from Mentone, where he had been a resident since 1954. He worked as a clerk/agent for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1980. He was a 1940 graduate of Argos High School.

On Aug. 7, 1945, he was inducted into the U.S. Army Air-Corp and received his honorable discharge July 22, 1949. He was a member of  American Legion Post 27, Plymouth; Plymouth Moose Family Center 741; FM&A Lodge 576, Mentone; and Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley, Fort Wayne. He attended Argos United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Jo Werick, Bourbon; a son, Kenneth Jr. (and spouse Linda) Menzie, Nappanee; a stepdaughter, Sue Ann Eisenman, Rochester; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel L. (and spouse Walter) Coplen, Argos; a brother, Russell A. Menzie, Logansport; and a stepbrother, Talbert (and spouse Doris) Pittenger, Columbia City. He also was preceded in death by a daughter and two sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, with the Rev. Don Nunemaker officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery with military rites by members of the U.S. Army and Argos American Legion Post 68.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
