COLUMBIA CITY - Kenneth Dale Hyser Sr., 69, of Pierceton, died at 8:38 a.m. March 12, 2009, in Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.

He was born March 31, 1939, in Roanoke, to Robert Russell and Wilma Love Hyser. He married Ruth Ann Colpetzer. On June 11, 1969, in Parisburg, W.Va., he married Annie "Alice" Stephens, who survives.

He attended Jefferson Center High School, Whitley County. From April 12, 1956, through Nov. 15, 1956, he served in the U.S. Air Force. A Whitley County resident for most of his life, he worked as director of maintenance for Whitley County Memorial Hospital, currently Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City, for 12 years; International Harvester, Fort Wayne, for 10 years; and retired from Country Mark Co-op after 10 years of service. He was a member of Columbia City Eagles Lodge 1906.

Also surviving are six sons: Terry Dale Hyser, Kenny Jr. (and spouse Donna) Hyser and Timothy Hyser, all of Columbia City; Rodney Hyser, Collins; Robert Allen (and spouse Tem) Schrader, Olympia, Wash; Christopher (and spouse Marsha) Schrader, Pierceton; three daughters: Teresa Gale (and spouse Richard) Earhart, Fort Wayne; Donna (and spouse Paul) Weinberg, Columbia City; and Dorthea (and spouse Jeff) Arnold, South Whitley; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Hyser, Columbia City; and three sisters, Beverly (and spouse Larry) Brandom and Barbara (and spouse Steve) Lalone, all of Columbia City, and LeAnna (and spouse John) Clevenger, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and a brother.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boonville Cemetery, Larwill, with Pastor James Clifford officiating, and with graveside military honors by members of Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow the service at the American Legion Hall in Pierceton.

No calling is planned.
