NORTH WEBSTER - Kellyn Maureen Buis, 51, a lifetime North Webster resident, passed away at 9:15 a.m. March 31, 2009, in her residence.
She was born Dec. 29, 1957, in Muncie, to Marguerite J. "Peggy" Sweeney Buis.
She grew up in North Webster and was a 1976 Wawasee High School graduate. She completed 18 months of EMS training and was the first woman to serve on the North Webster EMS Department. For the past 25 years, she was a controller at Shaffner and Shaffner Enterprises Inc., Warsaw. She was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four sisters, Suzanne J. (and spouse Curtis) Shock, Alice E. (and spouse Ralph) Luce and Jane A. (and spouse Dexter) Shepherd, all of North Webster, and D. Kimberley (and spouse Philip) Smith, Leesburg; two nephews, Michael P. (and spouse Kelly) Shock and Christopher D. (and spouse Nikki) Wiseman; a niece, Nicky Buis; grandnieces and -nephews, Adam, Alex and Anna Shock, Emma Buis, Meghan, Nate and Bailey Betz Wiseman and Aden and Caleb Wiseman; niece of the heart, Amy Stafford; and grandnephews of the heart, Riley Betz and Colton Stafford. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite J. "Peggy" Buis, who died in 2005, and a nephew, Patrick A. Wiseman, who died in 2001.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at North Webster United Methodist Church with Pastor David Smitley officiating. Burial will be in Mock Cemetery, North Webster.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and two hours prior to the service Friday at the church.
DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Countryside Funeral Home, Columbia City, is in charge of arrangements.
