MENTONE – Keith E. Childers, 65, rural Akron, died at 1:40 a.m. Sept. 7, 2014, at his residence after being in failing health since last April. He was born Oct. 26, 1948, in Fort Wayne, to John and Mary Parker Childers. On Sept. 2, 2005, in Mentone, he married Deneice E. McFadden, who survives in Akron. He served the country in the U.S. Navy for four years and in the Air National Guard for 30 years with his highest rank being sergeant. He also worked for International Harvester of Fort Wayne. He enjoyed old movies and short trips, especially to Lake Michigan. Also surviving are a daughter, Sarah Lang, Kusal, Germany; a son, Nicolas (and spouse Kendra) Childers, Indianapolis; a grandson, Jonas Lang; two brothers, David (and spouse Dawn) Childers, Wolfboro, N.H., and Michael Childers, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with the Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten officiating.
