SILVER LAKE - Kosciusko Development Inc. will look for more public contributions in 2008.
The most recent KDI budget proposal calls for $42,280 in private contributions, $6,280 more than the economic development group's 2007 budget.
At a KDI meeting at the Silver Lake Fire Department Wednesday, KDI Chairman Jim Tinkey said if the board is not able to raise the amount of private contributions, some services KDI provides will have to be cut. KDI currently has two part-time employees involved in keeping the KDI Web site up-to-date, responding to inquiries from businesses interested in locating in Kosciusko County and writing grants. If KDI has to cut their hours, Tinkey said, the amount of work they are able to complete will decrease.
Board members discussed forming a committee to focus on private contributions.
The board approved the proposed 2008 budget. The budget total is $77,380.
The board also closed nominations for officers for 2008. Those nominated are Wayne Luchenbill for chairman, Brad Bishop for vice president, John Boal for secretary and Joe Kessie for treasurer.
