Kosciusko Community Senior Services (KCSS) will be hosting the first annual “Run for Seniors” next month.
The 5K run and 1K walk will take place along with Warsaw’s First Friday at the Center Lake Pavilion located at 119 East Canal Street in Warsaw Oct. 7, starting at 6:00 p.m.
Entry fees will help KCSS continue providing needed services.
Until Sept. 30, the entry fee is $17. The entry fee is $20.00 for registration from Oct. 1 to race day. Registration for all walkers is $10. All walkers wanting a T-shirt must pre-register before Sept. 30.
Age groups are: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-45, 46-50, 51-55, 56-60, 61-65, 66-70, 71-75, and 76 and older.
Registration forms are available at the SAC located at 800 North Park Avenue (Lucerne Park) in Warsaw. Those interested can find race/walk registration forms at many area businesses and on the web at www.kosciuskoseniorservices.org.

KCSS announced it has Miller’s Senior Living Community, Lakeland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center and Kosciusko Runners Association as sponsors and participants in this fundraiser.
KCSS is an agency that provides many needed services for people age 60 and older. KCSS serves all of Kosciusko County. KCSS programs and services are as follows:
Handicapped Van Transportation - This service offers the rider assistance in and out of the vehicle. In 2010 more than 10,000 rides were provided for medical, nutrition and professional services and much more. Four Handicap-accessible vans were used and driven more than 75,000 miles.
Mobile Meals - This service provides a diet-appropriate nutritional noon meal that is delivered by a volunteer driver. In 2010 more than 33,000 noon meals were delivered Monday through Friday.
Emergency/Weekend Frozen Meals - For those times when a volunteer driver is unable to get to the client’s home, during holidays, school closings and for weekends. In 2010 more than 12,000 frozen meals were delivered.
Homemaker Services - Provides the senior with household chore assistance, meal preparation, prescription pick-up and banking errands. These services are offered as a means to help seniors in Kosciusko County live independently in their homes. In 2010 more than 900 hours of help were provided to clients.
Kosciusko Community Senior Activity Center, which is a place for people age 50 and older to participate in events and activities. Programs are offered to educate participants on a variety of health and personal needs. The average SAC client visits per month in 2010 were more than 1,200.
