KCSD Offers Home & Personal Defense Class

Posted
After the recent increase statewide and locally regarding personal protection permit applications, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department has received numerous requests for firearm training from citizens.
In response, the KCSD Firearms Division will be implementing a new “home and personal defense” firearms class, according to a press release from the KCSD.
Lt. Don Wiesehan stated that this initial class will consist of two dates, May 24 and 26, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the KCSD.
The class on May 24 will be conducted in a classroom session to encompass safety, handling and other various nomenclature issues. The May 26 class will be actual range application for basic pistol techniques.
This class is limited to 10 participants, and will require that the applicants provide their own personal handgun along with bringing a minimum of 100 rounds of matching ammunition for the firearm.
KCSD Firearms Instructor James Marshall stated that “with the access of the sheriff’s department indoor range, inclement weather will not be a factor and should provide for a better learning and training experience for beginners.”
Individuals interesting in the firearms class can register by contacting Wiesehan at either 574-265-2221 or via his email at dwiesehan@kcgov.com
There is a $35 fee to cover the cost of the books and training material, the release states.
