Kosciusko County Sheriff William "Rocky" Goshert has added two new officers to the sheriff's department roster.

Michael J. Fowler, 22, St. John, and Jeff A. Clark, 43, Wabash, have recently replaced two vacancies within the department's road patrol division.

Deputy Fowler is a 2009 graduate of Trine University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Fowler is originally from St. John, but has since moved to Kosciusko County.

Deputy Clark has transferred from the Wabash County Sheriff's Department with eight years as a deputy sheriff on the patrol division.

Clark is a 1996 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He and his family are planning on moving into the lakes area of Kosciusko County.

Fowler replaces the vacancy of Sgt. Jeff Shaw, who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 12, 2009, during a crash on Ind. 14.

Clark replaces the vacancy of Deputy Billy Fields, who left the department in January to be closer to his home area of Kendallville, in Noble County.

Goshert stated that the officers were selected from an intensive interview and testing process that provided several excellent candidates.

Goshert also said both officers have expressed a deep devotion and commitment to protect and serve the citizens of Kosciusko County.
