A Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department officer was involved in an accident in Warsaw Wednesday morning.
At 10 a.m., Warsaw Police Department officer Greg Oberlin arrived at the intersection of Ind. 15 and East Center Street in Warsaw.Oberlin observed a collision between an SUV, driven by William A. Henthorn, 53, North CR 175E, Warsaw, and a KCSD cruiser, driven by Christopher K. McKeand, 33.
Henthorn stated to Oberlin he was facing east on Center Street and had just gotten the green light. Henthorn said he didn't see or hear anything and, at the last moment, saw McKeand's vehicle and couldn't avoid collision.
McKeand stated he was traveling south on Ind. 15, on an emergency run, with his car's lights and siren activated.
McKeand said he stopped at the intersection to make sure everyone had stopped and, once he pulled into the intersection, he couldn't avoid a collision with Henthorn.
A witness at the scene stated she was facing east on Center Street in the left turn lane and saw McKeand approaching from the left with his emergency lights on and she stated she could hear the siren.
She stated she observed Henthorn pull out and hit McKeand's vehicle.
According to Oberlin's report, neither Henthorn or McKeand initially complained of injury though Henthorn did state he was starting to feel sore prior to being released from the scene.
The estimated damage of the accident was between $2,500-$5,000.
