Kosciusko Community Hospital announced Michael L. Mullins, chief executive officer, ended his service with KCH yesterday to begin working for Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn.

Gateway is a sister facility in the Triad Hospitals network.

Mullins, his wife Meliss and their two children are moving closer to family who live in Tennessee.

During his five-year tenure, Mullins spearheaded facility growth initiatives, including the Center of Hope Cancer Care Center completion; the Emergency Care Center expansion; refreshing the KCH facility exterior; the Beyer Medical Building that includes the expansion of Northern Lakes Internal Medicine, Laboratory Services, Pre-operative Testing and Imaging Center; and the most recent MedStat Urgent Care & Occupational Health expansion. He implemented the 5-Star Customer Service program so that all employees are trained to exceed patients' and visitors' expectations.

Kosciusko Community Hospital received the "2002 Hospital of the Year - Silver Award" from Triad Hospitals because of high ratings on operational indicators relative to other Triad facilities.

Bill Anderson, Triad division four president, said, "This is a great opportunity for Mike and his family. We wish them all the best. KCH is a fine institution with quality employees and a top-level medical staff, located in an outstanding community. I am confident that we will find a top quality person to continue the development of healthcare services at KCH."

"Mike implemented many outstanding improvements to enhance the medical staff, nursing staff, employees, facilities and the technologies at KCH to build quality healthcare provisions here in Kosciusko County. The board of directors wish Mike the very best in taking his next leadership role in Tennessee," said Dr. John Davis, KCH board of trustees president.

"I believe we've made some great strides in expanding services and improving health care over the past five years," said Mullins. "I am proud to have worked with an excellent medical staff, nurses, management team and employees to further develop services and enhance patient care. I wish this great community the very best."
