The battle for city pride went to the Kosciusko County homeschoolers, as they defeated Lakeland Christian Academy Monday 66-44.
KCHE controlled the game from start to finish in a dominating performance. John Erickson lead a balanced KCHE attack with 16 points and six assists.
His timely passes down the stretch put the game out of reach for the Cougars. Dan Erickson and Jon Franklin provided great defense and contributed with 13 and 12 points. Bob Jones also had 12 points.
The Cougars were led by the exceptional play of junior center Matt Boren, who led the team with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Aaron Hood scored 15 points and led LCA with four assists.
The difference in the game was the stingy zone defense played by KCHE. Lakeland was unable to get many good looks at the basket and made 24 turnovers. LCA falls to 2-3 on the season and is at White's Institute at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
