KCH Marks Completion Of Phase I ImprovementsThere was a ceremony Thursday afternoon to celebrate the completion of Kosciusko Community Hospital's first phase of capital improvements.

The first phase includes the completion of an Intensive Care Unit, Cardiopulmonary & Sleep Center.

Steve Miller, CEO of KCH, spoke to those in attendance about the changes.

"We believe very much health care is delivered from one person to another person," said Miller. "Regardless of who owns the brick and mortar, we are your community hospital."

Joe Dorko, from Lutheran Health Network, which owns KCH, also spoke.

"A good day for us is a day like today," said Dorko.

Mike Kissane, board chairman of KCH, spoke about how KCH is striving to serve the community and noted that this ongoing project is the largest in KCH history.

The project's next two phases is expected to be completed in the next 24 months.

One feature of the changes is switching all rooms to private ones instead of two patients in one room.

Dr. Steve Ashton, medical staff president at KCH, spoke about the improved patient care at KCH.

Doug West, chaplain at KCH, led the crowd in a prayer.

People who attended were given tours of the new facilities.
