Kosciusko Community Hospital will close the MedPark Counseling Center, according to Wayne Hendrix, KCH president.
Citing a steady decline in the number of patients over the past five years and a 19 percent increase in other outpatient services, Hendrix said the hospital decided to close MedPark after a suitable buyer could not be found.
"Currently scheduled clients will continue to receive counseling services until their specific program's completion through Nov. 22.," Hendrix said. "Patient need for counseling services will continue to be met. We are working with area professionals from Bowen Center, Brown and Associates and Counseling Associates to assure MedPark patients will have a comfortable transition to receiving quality health care at local facilities."
In 1994, KCH closed the MedPark inpatient unit due to a change in the market. In 1996, three MedPark satellite offices in Marion, Albion, and Columbia City closed. In 1998, the Fort Wayne satellite office closed.
MedPark clients can receive their medical records by calling 372-7610.
