As the final negotiations for the sale of Kosciusko Community Hospital to Quorum Health Group, the KCH board is also preparing for a change.
When the sale is completed, a new governing board will take over governance of the hospital, with a mission of ensuring local control of health issues in Kosciusko County, according to Wayne Hendrix, hospital president.
"The new board will have seven community residents, three physicians and three Quorum representatives," he said. "The majority of the community members will ensure a powerful local voice for health care issues."
The sale proceeds will go to the newly-formed KCH Foundation, which will serve as the governing body for Home Health Care services and Mason's long-term care, Hendrix said. Other services offered by the foundation will be determined once the new foundation board is established.
The KCH board of directors consists of Willis Alt, chairman; David Anuta, Kenneth Davidson, Dr. John Davis, Carl Ellis, Avis Gunter, John Hall, Thomas Howard, John Kibiger, Dr. Allen Martindale, Ray Monteith, Patricia Oppenheim, Lowell T. Owens, Robert Piecuch, Dr. Douglas Sawyer, Dr. Neal Van Ness and Hendrix.
The members of the Quorum board and the foundation board have yet to be determined.
