Wondering what to give that person who is hard to buy for or that seems to have everything? Well, according to the Kosciusko County Historical Society, it has the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for person. Four times a year the society publishes an historical magazine called The Thaddeus. Each issue contains stories of people, places and things from the county’s past. According to the release, interviews with locals add flavor to the information presented in the articles. Recent issues contained stories of Camp Logan at Dewart Lake, information on how streets in the county were named, an interview with a man who was a tank gunner in World War II, a history of elections and a shoot-out at Etna Green. Old photos are also featured in The Thaddeus. The latest issues contained photos of kids from East Ward School in 1890, the Palestine Mill in 1939, the Warsaw football team of 1942, the 1929 fair held on the streets of Warsaw, Lucky Lassies 4-H club of 1954 and workers for McClintic, Colwell and Gordy, a Syracuse company that built roads. With your yearly membership of $25, you or your loved one will receive four issues of The Thaddeus. The only expectation by joining is that you enjoy reading about county happenings from by-gone days. Your membership dollars help the society continue to preserve county history, and volunteers are welcome to help in the effort. Send your name, address and phone number to Kosciusko County Historical Society, P.O. Box 1071, Warsaw, IN 46581 to receive all issues for 2015.
