NORTH MANCHESTER — Kayla Aleen Slocum, 23, Huntington, died at 8:33 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at her home.
She was born Jan. 7, 1994, in Layton, Utah, to Ricky Avery Ryckman and Heidi Lynn Pauley Burkhart.
Kayla attended Warsaw Community High School. She married Jacob Sean Slocum in Columbia City on March 13, 2012. She enjoyed wolves, hiking, bicycling, bowling, the Christmas season and her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob Sean Slocum, Huntington; mother and stepfather, Heidi Lynn and Jens "Bud" Burkhart, North Manchester; two sisters and a brother: Amanda (Bruce) Nordahl, Lakeside, Calif.; Megan Burkhart, North Manchester; and Ricky S.A. (Alexis) Ryckman, Nashville, Tenn.; and grandparents: Gisela Zashka, Los Angeles, Calif.; Dorothy and Dan Lake, Columbiaville, Mich.; and James Grotovsky, El Cajon, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ricky Avery Ryckman.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester.
There will be a family reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Life Center gymnasium, 603 Bond St., North Manchester.
