NORTH WEBSTER – Kay L. Kyler, 68, of North Webster Lake, died at 4:50 a.m June 25, 2013, in her home following an extended battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 9, 1945, in Fort Wayne, to Leon E. “Bud” and Mary I. Lenox Hamman. On Nov. 29, 1985, she married Harry M. Kyler, who survives. They made their home in rural South Whitley until moving to their home on North Webster Lake 14 years ago.
A native of South Whitley, she graduated from South Whitley High School. She continued her education at Indiana Institute of Technology. She was employed at Dwyer Instruments, Huntington Schools, Fox Products, and lastly Strombeck Septic.
A member of North Webster American Legion Post 253 Auxiliary, she served as sergeant-at-arms and corresponding secretary. She volunteered at North Webster Community Public School.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin (and spouse Deb) Shoemaker, South Whitley, and Kip (and spouse Tricia) Shoemaker, North Manchester; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Webster United Methodist Church.
Calling is after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
