Katy Jane Miller Owens, 75, of 3103 S. Ind. 25, Warsaw, passed from this life to start her eternal journey with Jesus Christ at 5:31 p.m. Jan. 27, 2011, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

She was born Jan. 1, 1936, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Linden and Lillie Elliott Miller. On May 9, 1953, she married her husband of 57 years, Curtis Owens, who survives.

She has been a servant of the Lord for almost all her life. In her later years she attended Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake.

She was diagnosed with stage three Hodgkin's Lymphoma in August 2010. Her oncology doctor began aggressive campaign to bring her cancer into remission. What happens in only one out of every 200 Hodgkin Lymphoma patients is when the medication in the chemotherapy does irrevocable damage to the patient's lungs. Even though her cancer was close to remission, unfortunately, she became one of those one out of every 200 statistic. She went into Lutheran Hospital on Jan. 14 with breathing complications, and after x-rays were taken of her lungs the diagnosis came that her lungs were damaged beyond anything that medically could be done. With a strong heart beat she struggled to breathe every day using a B-path machine set up at the max in her hospital room until her heart could take no more.

She has a son-in-law, the Rev. Michael D. Tomlinson, who pastors New Beginnings Assembly of God, Nappanee, and also works for Zimmer Inc., Warsaw; her grandson-in-law, Ryan Neese, who is married to Michelle Tomlinson Neese, and they teach and lead worship at New Beginnings Assembly of God. Her granddaughter, Jessica Tomlinson is a pre-school teacher at Wee Care, Wesleyan Church, Warsaw, and is the Kidz Club pastor at New Beginnings Assembly of God.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband; a daughter, Carolyn S. Owens (and spouse the Rev. Michael D.) Tomlinson, Warsaw; a sister, Norma Jean Miller Shepherd, Warsaw; a brother, Garry Miller, Claypool; two granddaughters, Michelle S. Tomlinson (and spouse husband Ryan) Neese and Jessica A. Tomlinson, all of Warsaw; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Dylan Neese. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Lewis Miller, Prestonsburg, Ky., and Boyd, Steward and Manis Miller, all of Warsaw.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with the Rev. Michael D. Tomlinson, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
