SYRACUSE - Kathleen D. Riplinger, 89, of Leesburg, died at 9:30 p.m. April 20, 2008, in her residence.

She was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Gifford, Idaho, to John W. and Lilly Mae Wilcox Hobson. On Sept. 22, 1942, she married John G. "Jack" Riplinger, who died in July 1953.

She was a 1936 Gifford High School graduate and attended Lewiston (Idaho) Normal College. She was a homemaker; former co-owner and operator of Riplinger Funeral Home, Spokane, Wash.; and former custodian and librarian at North Idaho College, Coeur d' Alene. Moving to the Goshen/North Webster/Leesburg area 20 years ago, she was a member of North Webster Church of God, where she was active in the small groups' ministry.

Surviving are a daughter, Jill (and spouse Terry) Best, Leesburg; a son, Robert Allen (and spouse Marleen) Riplinger, Ammon, Idaho; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, seven sisters and four brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Bob Curry officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. Thomas Cemetery, Coeur d' Alene.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
