Katherine Ruth Barkey, 85, of Miller's Assisted Living, 1630 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, died at 8:58 p.m. May 1, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born June 12, 1922, in Plymouth, to Ray and Elma Ann Thompson Welborn. On Feb. 8, 1942, she married Lowell M Barkey, who passed away in 2001.
She was a homemaker and a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 50 years. She was a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw, and Kosciusko Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Philip (and spouse Marsha) Barkey, Winona Lake, and Ray (and spouse Deborah) Barkey, Goshen; three grandchildren, Curt and Ben (and spouse Danelle) Barkey, all of Winona Lake, and Michael Barkey, Goshen; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Burkett, Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and one grandson, David, in 1985.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor James Davis officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
