Kate’s Kart 15th Annual Ice Cream Social Fundraiser

The 15th Annual Ice Cream Social Fundraiser benefiting Kate’s Kart will be June 24.
The ice cream social is a day to celebrate the mission of Kate’s Kart. On “Go Eat Ice Cream Day,” they encourage everyone to join them, along with Kate’s Kart volunteers, at any of the participating shops to purchase a sweet. Volunteers will be at each location handing out Kate’s Kart goodies, new STEM friendly books from the Don Wood Foundation (while supplies last), and collecting donations to support the mission of Kate’s Kart, according to a news release. Participating shops are located in 14 counties, all across Northeast Indiana. Partnering shops are having specials and/or donating a percentage of their sales back to Kate’s Kart.
Kate's Kart is a not-for-profit organization that strives to provide a comforting diversion to hospitalized children through the gift of a new book. In just 15 years, the organization has grown to service 22 Northeast Indiana hospitals via 37 book Karts. Their team of 65 volunteers, along with the help of hospital staff, give away approximately 3,800 brand new books every month to hurt and scared children in the hospital. To date, over 385,000 books have brought smiles, distraction and hope to hospitalized children and their families.
Kate’s Kart has made a profound impact on children and families across Northeast Indiana through the gifting of new books over the last 15 years, the news release states. Their ice cream social is a celebratory “thank you” to the community for their continual support as Kate’s Kart has grown to 37 Karts in 22 hospitals across 15 counties.
