A grant from K21 Foundation will provide all ambulances in Kosciusko County new Stryker Cots that will provide not only a safer transport to local medical facilities, but also potentially reduce injuries to paramedics and emergency medical technicians. The new cots are designed to be operated by one individual when necessary, and will accommodate patients who weigh up to 650 pounds. According to MTEMS Paramedic Supervisor Tony Doyle, 'The size of our population is increasing and the cots currently being used by MTEMS are not designed to accommodate that increase. The new cots will give our staff peace of mind that they will be able to safely transport larger patients who are in need of medical services.' The new cots have already been put into service in all MTEMS ambulances and will soon be in service in Syracuse. For information about the K21 Foundation, call 574-269-5188 or visit www.k21foundation.org
