K21 Health Pavilion Open For Business

Posted
People seeking assistance from community service organizations in Kosciusko County no longer have to go to multiple locations for help.

The K21 Health Services Pavilion opened March 30, giving one home to many related service organizations.

Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice Inc., Medication and Dental Assistance, Women Infant and Children program, Kosciusko County Health Department's Well-Child, Immunization and Prenatal clinics, Health Connect Inc. and its BABE boutique and Health Connect's Help Center, Heartline Pregnancy Center and its Teens & Tots day care, Good Samaritan Fund and the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund now can be found in the new facility on Provident Drive at the north end of the Kosciusko Community Hospital campus.

There also is room in the facility so a few additional programs or organizations may be added in the future. About 2,500 square feet of space is open, and two offices still are available.

Since its opening about a week ago, the building has seen a good amount of traffic.

According to Jennifer Stewart, K21 Health Foundation, many people are visiting the center and learning about other services available as well. The consolidated location already has been good for all tenants and those using the various services offered there.

The 30,000-square-foot building and furnishings for each non-profit organization were funded by the K21 Foundation. The $5 million project is the largest ever funded by the foundation, and no tax dollars were used.

Hoch Associates of Fort Wayne spent time with each organization housed in the building to meet the space and needs requirements for each. While each group in the facility has its own space, there also is plenty of shared space, including a lobby and conference space. The two-story building features an open lobby area and waiting room, along with conference rooms that can seat up to 60 people.

W.J. Carey, South Whitley, was the general contractor for the building, and several local companies were involved in the completion of the project.

The completion of the health services pavilion brings to fruition a concept that has been discussed in the community for many years. The project took about a year and a half to complete and makes using community services more convenient for many people. Since many residents use more than one of the services housed in the building, it is more convenient and makes arranging transportation easier.

Members of the community will be able to tour the facility and learn about the services provided there during an open house April 21 from 4 to 6 p.m.
