K21 Grant Helps Solidify City County Athletic Complex Future

Posted
Since 1994, the City County Athletic Complex has served as a site for thousands of kids and adults in the Warsaw area and surrounding region to play a variety of sports.
Now, thanks in part to a $175,000 grant from K21 Health Foundation, the CCAC will soon become the owner of the land it previously rented, according to a news release from K21.
The 65-acre facility boasts eight lighted baseball/softball diamonds, a regulation soccer field, 13 various sized soccer fields for league play and two volleyball courts. There is also an indoor multi-sport facility that can be used year-round for soccer, basketball and fitness classes.
For CCAC’s entire 22-year history, it’s had a land lease relationship with a friendly neighbor next door, LSC Communications (known locally as RR Donnelley), according to the release.
“It has long been a dream of the CCAC board to own the land we occupy,” said CCAC Executive Director Karl Swihart. “This purchase cements our commitment to continue offering excellent sports facilities where individuals and families can participate in numerous physical fitness activities. It also gives us the opportunity to assess the needs of our community and strategically plan for the future of our facility. We will be able to make long-term decisions knowing we are owners and not just renters.”
“The CCAC is a very important asset in our community to continue to grow our culture of healthy living,” said Rich Haddad, K21 Health Foundation president and CEO. “This grant helps to ensure that the CCAC will continue to provide a place where people can go to participate in their favorite sports and for youth sports to flourish. The purchase of the land gives CCAC the assurance they need to develop additional opportunities for our community in the future.”
