Staff Report-
Community Action of Northeast Indiana has received a $4,000 grant from the K21 Health Foundation in support of its Covering Kids and Families program. Through CKF, CANI staff offers assistance to local residents to apply for state-funded health insurance programs such as Medicaid, Hoosier Healthwise and the Healthy Indiana Plan. “One of the most valuable impacts on a person’s health is that they are covered with health insurance, which allows them regular care and a consistent physician relationship,” said Rick Haddad, K21 Health Foundation president and CEO. “This program helps identify and assist those that qualify for our state programs, which gives them and their family a better chance to live a healthier life.” CANI helps communities, families and individuals remove the causes and conditions of poverty.
