In April, a request by the Knights of Columbus for a use variance to operate a club/lodge in a residentially zoned district on the northeast corner of Fort Wayne and Lindberg streets was approved by the Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals.
Tonight, the group returns to ask for a six-month extension as no activity has begun on the site.
Other matters to come before the board include:
A variance from development standards request by Warsaw Health Foods to erect a 32-square-foot flashing, illuminated wall sign in an R-2 district, at 1228 E. Center St. Flashing, illuminated signs are not permitted in this zone.
The sign has already been installed on the building's east side.
David and Susan Baldwin, prospective buyers of 2942 and 2948 U.S. 30E, will request a use variance for a used car lot in an I-2 zoned district, an allowable use.
Daniel Slone, tenant at 209 N. Maple St., is asking for a use variance in an R-2 district to operate a taxi cab service. A home occupation requires a special exception in an R-2 or R-3 district.
Warsaw Community Church representatives will ask for a variance from developmental standards to install two institutional, illuminated signs, each 60-1/2 square feet in size, at 2300 Ranch Road. The property is in an R-1 zone.
Ron Donkers, potential owner of 723 W. Jefferson St., is requesting a variance for developmental standards to install a small-rock driveway and parking area and a 21-foot-wide landscape buffer in an industrial-zoned district.
BZA members are: Alan Clingan, Dan Hamption, Richard Keeven, Tom Heuer and Bruce Woodward. Bill Rhoades is the city council's representative.
