Former director of the Kosciusko County Juvenile Shelter was sentenced to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of child seduction.

David Caudill pleaded guilty Thursday in Kosciusko Circuit Court to two of the three charges he faced. Two female juveniles who stayed at the shelter in May 1997 alleged Caudill touched their breasts and genitals.

He pleaded guilty to child seduction, which is defined by law as sexual intercourse between a person who is at least 18 years old and is the guardian of a child older than 16, and a child who is between the ages of 16 and 18. A charge of child molestation against Caudill was dismissed according to a plea agreement.

Caudill received the maximum sentence of three years for each charge, to be served concurrently, according to Kosciusko County prosecutor David Kolbe.

"His responsibility was to care for children," Kolbe said of Caudill. "He was engaged in this conduct while he was in a position of trust with kids who were victims."
