Jury Selection Under Way In Davidson Trial

Posted

Jason Paul Davidson's trial began today at 8:30 a.m. and is scheduled to continue until Sept. 9. Jury selection was under way this morning.

Davidson, 33, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the May 2, 2002, murder of Samuel Creekmore, 30, in Creekmore's home. Davidson allegedly shot Creekmore five times, three times in the head and twice in the torso, after entering the home of Creekmore and his wife, Alicia Davidson-Creekmore.

Creekmore was married to Davidson's ex-wife, Davidson-Creekmore, and was living in Davidson's and her former home at the time of Creekmore's death. According to reports, Davidson-Creekmore and Davidson had maintained a relationship because of their two children and were talking to each other on the telephone just seconds before Creekmore was killed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Davidson-Creekmore told police that Davidson asked her what her husband was doing as they spoke. She reportedly said he had just gone downstairs. Davidson allegedly told her to "hang on for a second" and seconds later, Davidson-Creekmore heard a door open, shots fired, then Creekmore's screams.

Davidson-Creekmore and a friend staying at the residence, Christina Barden, walked downstairs and allegedly saw Davidson holding a gun. Davidson fled and later turned himself in to Warsaw police accompanied by his attorney, Michael Miner, of Warsaw.
