Junior Miss and Mister Kosciusko and Miss Teen Kosciusko were named Tuesday at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair.
Junior Miss Kosciusko is Kristen VanOsdol, 8, daughter of Ed and Vicki VanOsdol, Winona Lake. First runner-up in the Junior Miss category was Britta Jackson, 8, daughter of Mike and Melany Jackson, Warsaw. Second runner-up was Stefani Davis, 11, daughter of Todd and Paulette Davis, Warsaw. Junior Miss for 2001 was Stephanie Sammons.
Other finalists in the Junior Miss competition were: Alexis Ertel, Brianna Day, Cassie Dishman and Emilee Golden, all of Warsaw; Meghann Waddle and Shana Patel, both of Pierceton; and Natalie Elizabeth Bryan, Winona Lake.
Junior Mister Kosciusko is Dylan deSomer, 8, son of Bob and Lorie deSomer, Warsaw. First runner-up in the Junior Mister category was Kyle Clevenger, 8, son of Buster and Heather Clevenger, Syracuse. Second runner-up was Rocky Bays, 8, son of Rocky and Tara Bays, Warsaw. Junior Mister in 2001 was Shea Dixon.
Other finalists in the Junior Mister competition were Benjamin Bryan, Winona Lake, and Emmanuel Long, Warsaw.
Kourtney Bell, 14, daughter of Kevin and Melissa Bell, Leesburg, was named Miss Teen Kosciusko. First runner-up was Shanda Fredericks, 12, daughter of Vern and Laurie Fredericks, Warsaw. Second runner-up was Courtney Woodward, 13, daughter of Bruce Woodward and Jeff and Cheri Bryan, Winona Lake. The 2001 Miss Teenage Kosciusko was Latasha Blair.
Other finalists in the Miss Teen group were: Cassandra Schneider, Etna Green; Jenna Rush, Milford; and Sundown Platt, Amber Long, Sasha Beliler, Jen Blackwell and Aimie Wilson, all of Warsaw.
Contestants were judged on personality, general appearance and appropriateness of dress, self confidence and the response to various questions. The age of each contestant also was taken into consideration.
Stephanie Wilson, 2001 Kosciusko County Fair Queen, emceed the event. Assisting with the event were: Helen Hoy, Our Lady of Kosciusko; Caylyne De Good, 2002 Miss Kosciusko County Fair, and her court, Danyel Ott, Annette Lamb and Cheryl Grady.
Judges were: Katie Tom, a former Miss Teenage Kosciusko and a contestant in the 2002 Kosciusko County Fair Queen pageant, Travis Degraff, Kelly Lybarger and Michelle Larsh.
