Community members in Kosciusko County have contributed more than $21,000 in the annual Junior Achievement phone drive.
Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization that uses the expertise of local business leaders to teach principles of business, economics, workforce readiness, and personal finance in area schools, grades K-12. Proceeds from the phone drive, which was held March 14 and 28 at the Embarq headquarters, will benefit the more than 4,600 students in such programs at Warsaw, Wawasee and Tippecanoe Valley school systems.
Representatives from more than 15 businesses participated in the phone drive, giving their time to call other area businesses for their support.
"Junior Achievement would like to thank the community for their outstanding support," said Kristi Manwaring, president, Junior Achievement in Kosciusko County.
"Junior Achievement is proud to provide valuable educational experiences to our area youth," said Manwaring. "We know that when students experience Junior Achievement, they experience success. JA is all about inspiring youth to be successful later in life. With the support of generous donors in Kosciusko County, JA can continue to make that happen."
"The 2007 phone drive was one of our best yet," said Erin Meyer, JA director of development. "Without the support of the many generous businesses in the area, Junior Achievement programming would not be possible."
