MENTONE – June Reed, 83, of 3855 S. Viking Drive, Mentone, died at 3:32 p.m. April 30, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was in failing health for a year.
She was born June 11, 1928, in Tyner, to Orten Verl and Minnie Alice Brown Slater. On May 29, 1948, in Mentone, she married George J. Reed, who survives.
She was a homemaker, spending her time caring for her family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a 1946 graduate of Mentone High School. She loved going camping with the family at Jellystone Park, Pierceton.
Also surviving are two sons, Terry (and spouse Debra Reed, Mentone, and Rocky (and spouse Diane) Reed, Pierceton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Salena Ann Reed; a son, Max Lane Reed; her adoptive parents, Clarence and Golda Brown; two sisters; and six brothers.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Jeff Truex officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
