While the original June First Friday event has been moved to July, there will still be a “virtual” First Friday in June.
The theme of the July First Friday is “Saluting Our Hometown Heroes” and is being organized by the Kosciusko Honor & Remember Committee, First Friday, city of Warsaw and the Warsaw Community Development Corp.
Any Kosciusko County veteran who previously was not recognized and honorably served from May 8, 1975, to present will be recognized at the July 3 First Friday event.
While First Friday event starts at 5 p.m., the honoring of the veterans will begin at 7 p.m. at Fribley Field, East Market Street, Warsaw.
Friends and family members are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
The registration form for veterans to be honored is available through the Facebook page of Kosciusko Honor & Remember or at Latte Lounge and Salvation Army. Forms can be dropped off at the locations or mailed to Kosciusko Honor & Remember c/o GWMA, P.O. Box 1797, Warsaw, IN 46581-1797.
First Friday coordinator Paula Bowman said there will be a lot of other stuff going on at the July First Friday.
For the June 5 virtual First Friday, activities were just finalized Monday, Bowman said.
“It will be a virtual posting of your favorite things,” she said.
People can post photos of their favorite things at the Warsaw First Friday Facebook page now until 5 p.m. June 5. The photo with the most likes will receive the People’s Choice Award. Three local photographers also will judge the photos and each will award a first-place prize. Voting will be between 5 to 9 p.m. June 5, but photos must be posted before 5 p.m.
Additionally, the Columbia Street Jazz Quartet will perform virtually on the Facebook page from 7 to 8 p.m.
First Fridays Warsaw are sponsored by The Dr. Dane & Mary Louise Miller Foundation.
