The Warsaw man critically injured earlier this month when his mo-ped crashed into a passing SUV has died.
Douglas A. Craig, 48, of 204 S. Hunters Ridge, Warsaw, succumbed early Saturday to blunt-force head trauma suffered in a July 5 crash with a Chevrolet Trailblazer on Fox Farm Road, just south of Southside Drive, the Allen County Coroner’s Office said.
Craig was airlifted to Fort Wayne’s Parkview Hospital with severe head injuries after his mo-ped slammed into a Chevrolet Trailblazer just before 4:30 p.m. The Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team said that Craig had come out of a driveway on Fox Farm Road and was stopped when he was somehow “flung forward” and slammed into the side of the southbound 1999 Trailblazer, driven by Leanna L. Brand, 39, of Warsaw.
He was not wearing a helmet, investigators said.
FACT investigators said after the crash that alcohol may have played a role in the collision. Results from a state-mandated blood draw have not been returned yet.
