MILFORD - Julia S. Myers, 93, of Nappanee, died at 7 a.m. July 24, 2008, in Goshen General Hospital.
She was born July 16, 1915, in Detroit, Mich., to James A. and Francis Prall Strider. She married David Walter Myers, who died in 1976.
Moving to the area from Cincinnati in 1978, she was a homemaker, interior decorator and an air traffic controller during World War II. She was a member of Milford United Methodist Church, Milford Library Board, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Leisure Living Board. She was a Pratt Institute graduate, winning the Sachs Award in 1937, and received her pilot's license in 1940. Genealogy and epigraphic (study of old language) were her hobbies. She lived in Heritage House, Nappanee, for the past four years.
Surviving are a daughter, Sally (and spouse Bob) Cline, Milford; a brother, Tom (and spouse Kathleen) Strider, Florida; and two grandchildren, Christopher, Arizona, and Cody, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Milford, with Pastor Norm Reimer officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield (Ohio) Cemetery.
