SYRACUSE – Julia “Red” Scarbeary-Byrd, 100, Syracuse, passed away Aug. 30, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. She was born July 25, 1913, to R. Ramey and Rosa Davis Whitaker. She married Bueford Scarbeary, who preceeded her in death. She then married Jessie Byrd, who also preceeding her. She was retired from the Dana Corporation, Syracuse, and attended the Strong Tower Worship Center in Ligonier. Surviving are her son, Bill Scarbeary, Columbia City; two daughters, Michele Morris, Libertyville, and Arlene Kincaid, Goshen; a sister, Monnie Lee, Goshen; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, four brothers and four sisters. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will be at Byer Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse.
