AKRON - Judith H. Hill, 69, formerly of Akron, died at 1:35 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where she resided.

She was born Dec. 28, 1938, in North Manchester, to Frederick and Mildred Eaton Hammond. On Nov. 11, 1956, in Akron, she married Tommie L. Hill, who died Jan. 25, 2006.

She was a homemaker, formerly worked at Helvey Insurance, Akron; and worked at the Press Journal, the local paper, while living in Louisiana, Mo. She attended Akron Church of God, where she was involved in the women's group and in the card ministry. She co-owned Grandpa's Barn antique shop, Akron, and was a Girl Scout leader while living in Missouri. She was a 1956 Akron High School graduate. She was very interested in genealogy and enjoyed photography.

Surviving are a daughter, Nina Schultz, Fort Thomas, Ky.; two sons, Brian (and spouse Jean) Hill, Matthews, S.C., and Bruce Hill, Wakarusa; her mother, Mildred Hammond, North Manchester; six grandchildren: Derek, Lauren, Jared and Nicholas Hill, and Amy and Matt Schultz; two sisters, Janet Wood and Karen (and spouse Don) Drone, all of Akron; and a brother, Gail (and spouse Brenda) Hammond, Clermont, Fla. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Gary Hammond.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Akron Church of God, 301 S. West St., Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.

Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
