Judge Rejects Plea Agreement In Stabbing Case

Angela D. Frye of Warsaw must stand trial for stabbing a man in January 1998. She later married the victim.

Frye, 33, was charged in May 1998 with battery with a deadly weapon, a Class C felony. She pleaded guilty to battery as a Class A misdemeanor on Aug. 25 and was in court Wednesday to be sentenced for the offense.

However, Kosciusko Superior Court I Judge Duane Huffer rejected the plea agreement and set the matter for trial Nov. 16 and 17 commencing at 9 a.m.

Frye stabbed Charles Adams, 32, of Warsaw, in the right forearm with a butcher knife, while they were fighting at her residence.

Adams suffered a laceration that went to the bone after being stabbed with the 18-inch knife and he underwent emergency surgery.

The rejected plea agreement that Frye signed and which was agreed to by the prosecutor and Frye's attorney, David Hoffman of South Bend, called for a one-year suspended prison term, $100 fine and court costs.
