Joyce Arlene Johnson, 83, went home to be with the Lord at 2:05 p.m. Feb. 14, 2012, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born April 12, 1928, in Nappanee, to Lester and Frances Patricia Rockwell Atichson. On Aug. 21, 1947, in Danville, Ill., she married William L. Johnson, who preceded her in death.

A lifetime Warsaw resident, she was a homemaker and attended New Life Christian Church, Warsaw.

She was the best mother and friend who was always there when needed with her white hair and the wisdom she shared. In a word, she was awesome. She may be out of sight but never out of people’s hearts. She is loved and her family will be reunited with her. That is their promise and God’s promise to them.

Surviving are two daughters, Frances (and spouse Woody) Hancock, Warsaw, and Pamela (and spouse Don) Rogers, Mancelona, Mich.; a sister, Alice (and spouse Claude) Johnson, Warsaw; six grandchildren;  19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons. She also was preceded in death by a son, Billy;  two brothers, Eugene and Bob; an infant sister; and two sons-in-law, David and Jim, whom she loved very much.

Private services will be in Oakwood Cemetery,  Warsaw, with Pastor John B. Lowe officiating.

No calling is planned.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
