Joyce Ann Rose, formerly of Warsaw, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in the care of Carmel Health and Living in Carmel, Indiana, at the age of 74. A loving mother, devoted granny, sister and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joyce was born on Feb. 5, 1952, in Manchester, Ky., to Nancy Crawford Hoskins and Ben Hoskins. She graduated from Mentone High School in Mentone in 1970. On June 5, 1986, Joyce married her best friend and the love of her life, James “Jim” Allen Rose. The two met through the Mentone Youth League and shared 38 wonderful years of marriage before Jim’s passing on Dec. 4, 2024.
Joyce dedicated much of her life to serving others. She was a valued member of her community, serving in various roles for the city of Burket, supporting families through the WIC program, and later working for the state of Indiana. She was an avid gardener who found joy in creating beauty wherever she was.
Above all, Joyce loved her family fiercely. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her children and especially her grandchildren. She shared a special and joyful bond with Nora and Nina, and being their granny was one of the greatest blessings of her life.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Bethany Brower, of Warsaw; and Nicole (Nathan) Borem-Schickel, of Carmel; her cherished grandchildren, Nora and Nina Schickel, of Carmel; and her sister, Tina Beatty, of Cicero. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Jim.
Joyce’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw and officiated by Envoy Ken Lock. Those wishing to attend the graveside service will need to meet by 10:45 a.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, to go in procession to the cemetery.
