Joy L. Hanes, 88, of 1630 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, died at 9:10 a.m. May 8, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

She was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Wakarusa, to Frank and Elsie Homes Ernest. On April 5, 1942, in Goshen, she married the Rev. Theron H. Hanes, who died Jan. 16, 2007.

She retired from Heckaman Bindery, North Manchester, in 1985, and was a member of Warsaw Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen (and spouse Larry) Coble, Warsaw, and Wanda (and spouse Carl) Schneider, Riverside, Calif.; two sons, Bill (and spouse Brenda) Hanes, Warsaw, and Tom (and spouse Kathy) Hanes, Kankakee, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leora Inbody and Lucille Beckner.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Warsaw Church of the Nazarene, Warsaw, with Pastor Phil Harden and Bill Hanes officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
