Joy Ellen Engle, 53, of Warsaw, passed away at 9:10 p.m. July 1, 2013, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
She was born Feb. 1, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, to Harold Edward and Virginia Joy Bowerman Lucht. On Oct. 10, 1981, in Mentone, she married Jay Engle, who survives.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, she received a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in education from Walden University.
She was a member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church. She was affiliated with the New England Historic Genealogy Society and Women’s Ministry and Book Club of Warsaw Wesleyan Church
She was a reading specialist teacher at Lincoln Elementary School.
Also surviving are two sons, Jared (and spouse Stacy) Engle and Jason Engle, all of Warsaw; her mother, Virginia Joy Lucht, Warsaw; a brother, Harold Alan (spouse Jennifer) Lucht, Warsaw; and two grandchildren, Lillyan Marie and Sophia Noel Engle, both of Warsaw. She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Edward Lucht, who died Feb. 7, 2000.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Gale Janofski officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
