LUFKIN, Texas - Josh Cavins, 27, of Lufkin, Texas, was tragically taken from us before we were ready, Sept. 4, 2010, in Kemah, Texas.
He was born Sept. 25, 1982, in Peru, to Marc and Shelly Zmijowski, who survive in Hudson, Texas. On April 8, 2006, he married his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Tiffany Garcia, who survives.
He attended Hudson High School. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Texas Longhorn fan. He worked at Jenkins Plumbing. He continues to be loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He never met a stranger that his long arms did not include in a giant hug because to us he was a giant man. - H.S.
Also surviving are two children, who he was a very proud of, MacKenzie Jo and Joshuah Joe Jr. Cavins; grandparents: Dick and Sherry Davis, Huntington, Texas, and Cliff and Mary Cavins, Peru; three brothers, Eric, Chase and Nathan Zmijowski; an aunt, Debby Davis, Hudson; two uncles, Richard Davis II, Huntington, and Ricky Havard, Nacogdoches, Texas; great-grandparents, Willis and Mary Whisler, Bradenton, Fla., and Emogene Davis, North Webster; cousins: Faith and Rachel Barrett, Hudson; Terence Hopper, Dayton, Ohio; Jacob Hopper, Embry Riddle's College Naval ROTC, Florida; Curtis Hopper, Fort Hood, Texas; Richard Davis III, Florida; and Jessica Davis, Pennsylvania; his biological father, Clifford Cavins, Illinois; his mother- and father-in-law, Andrea McDaniel, Hudson, and Kenneth R. Garcia, Lufkin; grandmother-in-law, Betty Havard, Lufkin; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends; his biological grandmother; and many half-brothers and half-sisters. He was preceded in death by a great-grandfather, Clark Davis, North Webster.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 9, 2010, in Lufkin First Assembly of God Church with Pastors Andy Salagaj and Alvin Vanderleast officiating. Burial will be in Largent Cemetery.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin.
Join our family in honoring Josh by wearing jeans and football jerseys. If friends have motorcycles, ride for him in the procession (helmets required).
Pallbearers will be Eric Zmijowski, Michael Jenkins, Robert Mayberry, James Gibson, Curtis Hopper and Jamarcus Hadnot.
