Josephine “Jo” Richardson Barton, 92, passed away at 4:28 a.m. Aug. 23, 2011, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was a resident at Warsaw Retired Tigers Apartments since November 1999.

She was born Oct. 26, 1918, in West Prestonsburg, Ky., to Elza and Lillie Whitaker Richardson. On April 13, 1943, in Camp Blanding, Fla., she married Max Donald Barton, who died Nov. 6, 1962.

She worked at Jo-Mac Glove Co., Warsaw, and the County Home as a cook. She then worked as director of the nutrition site at Retired Tigers for six years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw. She made quilts and lap robes for the church.

Surviving are a daughter, Lily (and spouse Donald) Miller, Warsaw; three sons: Roger (and spouse Sue) Barton, Fort Wayne; Larry (and spouse Lori) Barton, Warsaw; and Ted (and spouse Laurie) Barton, Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Pearl England and Bertha Haywood, both of Claypool; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 23 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sister and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Dr. Lee Kantenwein officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
