Joseph ‘Joe’ G. MitchellJoseph “Joe” G. Mitchell, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 29, 2022, after a short illness.
He was born in Danville, Ill., on March 8, 1960, to the late James and Iris Sobkoviak Mitchell.
Joe was an avid motorcycle rider, lover of country and rock ‘n’ roll music. Joe called all his friends “Good Americans.” He was always willing to help a friend in need. Joe was the life of the party. When he walked into a room, you knew he had arrived.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory he loving wife, Jodi; his daughter, Amy Mitchell Abdallah (Ahmed); his son, Joey Mitchell (Stacey); his daughter, Shelly Mitchell Corken (Chris); his brother, Jay (Sue) Mitchell; and his sister, Susan Allison; 10 grandchildren: KiAirah, DeVon, Julian, Christopher, Mariam, Alexandria (Ali), Joseph (JJ), Aziza, Jacob and Amina; two nieces, one nephew, one great-niece and one great-nephew. He also leaves behind his ex-wife and best friend, Gail Birge.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, James and Iris Sobkoviak Mitchell.
There will be a celebration of life from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at Summer Lake’s HOA Clubhouse located at 9285 Quartermoon Drive, Pendleton.
