SYRACUSE — Joseph E. “Joe” Bowling, 77, Syracuse, passed away at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Greenhouse Village of Goshen.
He was born July 19, 1941, in Salt Lick, Ky., to Clinton Clayton and Bessie Marie Triplett Bowling.
He moved from Kentucky in 1943 to Indiana, attended Dalton schools and moved to Syracuse in 1959 from New Castle.
He was married on June 10, 1961, in New Castle, to Evelyn J. Marcum, who preceded him on Sept. 9, 2010.
He retired from Dana Corp., Syracuse, after 18 years. He was formerly employed at Sea Nymph in Syracuse, Smoker Craft in New Paris, Liberty Homes in Syracuse for 19 years, and mowed for Epworth Forest Camp for 10 years after retirement.
He formerly attended Syracuse Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Mike) Bickel and Donna (Mark) Bowling-Scott, both of Syracuse; a son, Tim (Donna) Bowling, Syracuse; two grandchildren, Timothy (Karly) Bowling and Joshua Bickel; two great-grandchildren, Anna Leigh and Christian Bowling; two sisters, Mona Drumm and Wanda (Mike) Reiff, both of Warsaw; and three brothers: Euell (Freda) Bowling, Springport; Sam (Sandy) Bowling, Pierceton; and Denny (Lucinda) Bowling, North Webster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Dempsy Bowling and brother Huey Bowling.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in Syracuse Cemetery.
