NORTH WEBSTER – Joseph A. "Joe" Harris, 64, of Pierceton, died at 6:45 p.m. June 23, 2011, in his home.

He was born June 19, 1947, in Fort Wayne, to William J. and Elsie Wagoner Harris. On Oct. 3, 1970, in Fort Wayne, he married Phyllis D. Knox, who survives in Pierceton.

A lifetime area resident, he attended North Webster High School and graduated from Wolf Lake High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and served during the Vietnam War. He was owner and operator of Accur-Cut Machine Company, North Webster, for 39 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1342, Syracuse, and a former member of the North Webster Snow Mobile Club.

Also surviving are a daughter, Tanya (and spouse Martin) Johnson, Delaware, Ohio; a son, Kevin Harris, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren: Jacob, Megan, Brandon, Erin and Nathan; and a brother, James “Jim” (and spouse Sandy) Harris, North Webster. He was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Sue Baker.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Webster Cemetery Mock Addition, with the Rev. Jimmie Holloman officiating. Military rites will be performed by North Webster American Legion Post 253.

Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, is in charge of arrangements.
