Jon Charles Kurczbuch, 79, Warsaw, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
He was born on July 20, 1939, in Lubna-Jakusy, Poland, to Chezlaw and Janina Wieczoreck Kurczbuch.
He was a survivor of a World War II forced labor camp. After surviving the forced labor camp, he and his folks settled in Valley Center, Kan. From there he moved to Newton, Kan., where he graduated high school. He attended Illinois Institute of Technology, where he completed his college degree in chemistry.
He worked for 45 years as a chemist in Chicago and transferred in the 1980s to Flint Ink here in Warsaw, from where he eventually retired.
Jon was a non-denominational Christian and supported many charitable causes. In addition, he was an avid golfer, huge Chicago Cubs fan and thoroughly enjoyed his cable television.
He is survived by his son, Paul Kurczbuch, Warsaw; daughter, Renee Luka, Chicago, Ill.; brother, Charles “Charlie” (spouse Cathy) Kurczbuch, Newton; and sister, Theresa (spouse Gary) Reuter, Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe (spouse Neilia survives) Kurczbuch.
A memorial service will be at 3 p. m. Friday, Aug. 17, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Chaplain Bob Jarboe will officiate the memorial service.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 1 to 3 p.m., in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
