CLEARFIELD, Utah – Jon Alan Woodling, 71, loving father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend, died in his sleep at home Dec. 10, 2013, while battling cancer. He was born in Feb. 16, 1942, in Warsaw, to George Woodling and Doris Richwine. In 1969 he married Vicky Cole and they had three children. They were later divorced. In 1977 he married Dena Atkinson and they had two children. They were later divorced. He grew up in Warsaw and Nampa, Idaho. He was a gifted athlete, winning a state swimming championship in high school. He enjoyed racing super mods in Indiana before joining the Air Force in 1963. He served four years. He was stationed all over the Pacific and served in Vietnam. After his service he settled in Utah and continued his lifelong love of fast cars. He owned several muscle cars in his younger days. He worked in construction his entire life. He built homes all over Utah before going to work for Big D construction. He had 33 years of service with Big D, retiring in 2011. In 2009 he renewed his commitment to God and began serving Christian missions in Guatemala, Haiti, Cambodia, Japan and Italy. He helped with the construction of churches and infrastructure. During these service missions he made friends all over the world. He opened his heart to all and gave selflessly even while battling cancer. He will be missed dearly. Surviving are five children: Page (and spouse Dave) Pruett, Tory (and spouse Hilda) Woodling, Linzee Nickerson, Jon “Brody” Woodling and Kevin Woodling; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his father, George; four brothers: Gerry, Randy and George Woodling Jr., and Dan Christensen; and a sister, Wendy Christensen. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Kilmer. There will be no services and he will be cremated.
