Johnson Takes Goalkeeping Skills To Franklin CollegeWarsaw Community High School senior goalkeeper David Johnson established himself as one of the top defenders in the state over the past four years, and he will take his play to Franklin College next season. Johnson is the school-record holder with 40 career shutouts, which ranks him second in IHSAA history in career shutouts. His mark of 17 shutouts in a single season is also a state record. The stopper was a two-time All-Northern Lakes Conference selection, and he led the Tigers to two IHSAA Final Four appearances (2010, 2011) and one IHSAA Elite Eight (2009) showing. Warsaw went 14-0 over the last two seasons in NLC play with Johnson in front of the net for coach Scott Bauer’s Tigers. He also managed to maintain a sharp eye and reflex both on the field and in the classroom, earning an impressive 10.8 GPA while enrolled in numerous advanced placement and honors courses. Johnson will major in pre-med biology next year and compete for Franklin coach Shaun Mahoney’s Grizzlies.
