John Timothy Boren, 59, of Winona Lake, went home to be with his Lord at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 12, 2012, in his residence. He was born Oct. 23, 1953, in Columbia City, to Charles Edward and Lois Marie Herzog Boren. On June 14, 1975, he married Patricia “Patti” Marie Balmer, who survives. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, he graduated from Warsaw High School and then attended Moody Bible Institute, Indiana University and Grace College. He worked for Miller & Son’s, Warsaw Masonry Supply, Tom Farms and he later drove bus for Warsaw Community School Corp. For the past 17 years he worked as chaplain for the Kosciusko County Jail. He was a member of the Warsaw/Winona Lake Gideon Camp and Community Grace Brethren Church, Warsaw, and was named Warsaw Man of the Year in 2008. Also surviving are three sons, Josh (and spouse Jennie) Boren and Ben (and spouse Katy) Boren, all of Winona Lake, and Matt (and spouse Monica) Boren, Leesburg; a daughter, Johanna Boren, Winona Lake; six grandchildren: Whitney, Noah, Riley, Silas, Abner and Gracie; his mother, Lois Marie Boren, Winona Lake; a brother, James (and spouse Loida) Boren, Apex, N.C.; and a sister, Martha (and spouse Bobby) Housch, Gettysburg, Pa. He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Community Grace Brethren Church, 909 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Jeff Pfeifer and assisted by Jim Small. Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.
